Tooth Colored Fillings
Also known as composites or bonding, a composite filling is made of a quartz-like material that is custom matched to your own unique tooth shade. Composites are more than just attractive, they are environmentally friendly because they use no mercury, and are stronger because the bond directly to the surface of the tooth.
Tooth colored composite fillings can be used in many ways, such as treating new cavities and replacing old amalgam “silver” fillings. You don’t have to have a mouth full of black fillings anymore! Composites can also be used to fill in erosion grooves at the gum line, close gaps between teeth, and replace chipped or worn tooth structure.
Dr. Chalmers will discuss with you whether tooth colored fillings are the best choice for restoring your teeth, or if other alternatives such as inlays, onlays, or porcelain crowns are a preferred option.
