If you are missing one or more teeth in the front or back of your mouth, a porcelain bridge may be the perfect solution for you. They are beautiful and virtually undetectable.
A bridge is a single appliance that is generally attached to two teeth that have been prepared for crowns on each side of the space where the tooth is missing, and an artificial tooth is connected in between.
Unlike dentures, a fixed bridge is not removable and is stable in the mouth. The new all porcelain bridges contain no dark metal core, and are wonderful technology for replacing teeth in the front of the mouth, where a smile can reveal unsightly black lines near the gum line. Dr. Chalmers can discuss the advantages of an all porcelain bridge with you.
By filling in the gap and stopping the movement of the other teeth, a fixed bridge is an excellent investment, providing better chewing ability, and preventing possible jaw joint and periodontal problems caused by the shifting and tilting of teeth around the space.
In situations where bridges are not feasible for tooth replacement, implants may be an excellent, and possibly preferred option. Visit Dr. Michele Chalmers, D.D.S., Bay Area female dentist, to talk about your treatment options.
